Super Hit ? Or super flop ?
So I had been waiting to go for this movie ever since it released but somehow did not want to due to the reviews it got.Most critics said that one should go only to watch Sheela dance and act dumb.But when my girlfriend asked me to choose between TMK or The Tourist, I secretly wanted to choose the former,which she managed to see and we went for it to the Cinemax in BKC.
The song is within the first fifteen minutes of the movie.And boy, does Sheela rock ! apart from the song, the movie has a good story,but it has been over done all thanks to the director's boyfriend,Shirish Kunder.He has produced the flick,written dialogues,etc etc and etc.Come on ! What was he thinking ? The movie looks like a cheap re make of Om Shanti Om at times trying to copy OSO's look and feel.
There are nice moments here and there which will make you smile but nothing is going to make you fall off your seat laughing.
Akshay has done his bit though he looks gay in certain parts. What is he trying to do in his movies of late ?
Katrina as Sheela is only there for her sheer mastery over the art of acting like a bimbette.Akhay Khanna is wasted as a wannabe Oscar winner and breaking into a dance song routine over Jai Ho ! or rather Day ho !
Wonder how big a flop Slumdog Millionaire would have been had he been cast in it.
Overall I would rate it about 5.5/10
The music is not too good too.Vishal has done a good job with "Sheela ki Jawani" and Sonu Nigam has sung the title song brilliantly too.
All in all it is a one watch type of a movie.Please lock your brains at home before you watch this one or you are going to hate it.
Sorry Farah.You need to get your priorities in order to get a hit.Promoting your husband doesn't really work for us !
